"The Story Will Become Even Larger": The Apothecary Diaries Director Reveals What to Expect in Season 2

Naganuma was recently featured as a special guest on Crunchyroll's weekly podcast, The Anime Effect, alongside Leah President and Kristine Don. They discussed the fan-favorite moments from the first season, which has been ranked among the top 5 anime of 2024. Naganuma also hinted at future developments and explained how the show's minor mysteries are part of a more extensive plot. He assured, "There will be more developments," and elaborated, "The story will expand. Many of the mysteries introduced in Season 1 will become more complex before reaching a resolution."

Before discussing Season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries, Naganuma shared insights with The Anime Effect's hosts about the anime industry's challenges. "When I first had the chance to direct, I was uncertain about what and how to express. The Ancient Magus' Bride was a significant milestone for me. Following that, I spent three to four years contemplating what constitutes a good director and how to improve. That's when The Apothecary Diaries came along."

Naganuma, who also oversaw the series composition and storyboards for The Apothecary Diaries, explained his method for managing these roles. "Our goal was to preserve the novel's best aspects and faithfully convert them into animation. We aimed to depict the various colors and sounds that the original novel doesn't convey. The original author, Natsu Hyuga, is extraordinary, entrusting me with the entire adaptation process. She even said she was the number one fan of the animated series, which was truly an honor."

The second season of The Apothecary Diaries is set to debut in 2025, with the exact release date still pending. The first season is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time Anime Casts Its Magic in First Trailer

The first complete trailer for the anticipated TV anime "Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time" was unveiled tonight, showcasing the adaptation of Kogitsunemaru's light novel series. Naoyuki Kuzuya, known for "Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire," directs "Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time" at Studio Comet. The series, featuring composition by Mitsutaka Hirota, character designs by Sayaka Anezaki, and music by Hiroshi Nakamura, is slated for a January 2025 premiere.

Alpha Manga has released an official English version of the manga adaptation by Taro Sasakama, which unfolds the tale of Takumi Iruma. The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Anime Premieres on January 10, 2025

The first anniversary livestream for The Apothecary Diaries anime, hosted on TOHO's official YouTube channel, premiered a new trailer for Season 2 today. It confirmed the release date as January 10, 2025, and announced a continuous two-cour broadcast, which is approximately half a year, for the eagerly awaited sequel. Crunchyroll has already confirmed that it will stream the new series.

Additionally, a new key visual was revealed, accompanied by a seasonal visual showcasing fall cosmos flowers and the concluding piece of Halloween-themed art.

"The Apothecary Diaries," based on the light novels by Natsu Hyuuga and Touko Shino, is directed by Norihiko Naganuma of "The Ancient Magus' Bride" fame, who also acts as series composer. Akinori Fudesaka of "Tsuredure Children" assists in directing at TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM.
The historical drama anime, streamed by Crunchyroll, unfolds as follows:

This Monster Wants to Eat Me Gets Anime Adaptation

The girls’ love This Monster Wants to Eat Me manga series is getting an anime adaptation. The cast and staff were also revealed, along with a teaser visual and trailer. Reina Ueda stars as the main character Hinaka Yaotose in the anime, which is slated to premiere in 2025.

The anime adaptation is derived from a manga series authored and illustrated by Sai Naekawa. It has been serialized in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Maoh magazine since August 2020, and the first volume was published in English by Yen Press in June 2024.

Here is the synopsis of the series:
"I've come to eat you," whispers the mermaid Shiori, emerging from the sea to take high schooler Hinako's hand. Living alone in a seaside town, Hinako has a body so delectable it attracts monsters. Shiori, intent on letting Hinako ripen to perfection, vows to protect her until she can feast upon her. Amidst this, Hinako wonders if Shiori might fulfill her deepest wish.

The Too-Perfect Saint Gets Anime

The light novel series "The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom" is being adapted into an anime. A teaser visual and a trailer have been released, featuring Yui Ishikawa as the voice of the protagonist, Philia. The anime's premiere is scheduled for 2025.


The anime is adapted from a light novel series authored by Koki Fuyutsuki with illustrations by Masami. Initially serialized on the user-generated novel platform Shosetsuka ni Narō from July 2020 until January 2022, it was later picked up by Overlap, which started publishing the series under its Overlap Novels imprint in April 2021. The manga adaptation, drawn by Mago Ayakita, began serialization in Overlap’s Comic Gardo manga service in November 2021.

Seven Seas is publishing the light novel in English, describing it as follows:
Philia comes from a lineage of saints and is hailed as the greatest saint in history, destined to marry Julius, the second prince. Unexpectedly, Julius cancels the engagement, criticizing Philia's flawless nature as charmless and unappealing. Subsequently, Philia is sent to a neighboring country in a trade for gold and resources, compelling her to abandon her homeland. The Holy Grail of Eris Gets Anime Adaptation

The Holy Grail of Eris light novel series is getting an anime adaptation. A teaser video and visual were unveiled, along with the main voice cast. Kana Ichinose will star as Constance “Connie” Grail, and Sayumi Suzushiro will voice Scarlett Castiel, both reprising their roles from the light novel’s previous drama CD.

The main cast’s voices are featured in the teaser trailer:
Hinase Momoyama, the artist responsible for the manga adaptation of the light novel, crafted an illustration to commemorate the announcement of the anime.
"The Holy Grail of Eris" is a Japanese light novel series authored by Kujira Tokiwa and illustrated by Yuunagi. It started serialization online in October 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. SB Creative acquired the series, releasing four volumes from November 2019 to March 2022 under their GA Novel label.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Hinase Momoyama, has been serialized on Square Enix’s Manga Up! website since November 2019. A new edition of the novel series, by the same author and illustrator, is set to be published under Drecom’s DRE Novels imprint starting in November 2024.
Yen Press has licensed the light novel for English readers and provides the following synopsis:
Constance Grail, the daughter of a viscount, is an ordinary girl distinguished only by her sincerity. This trait leaves her defenseless when she is robbed of her fiancé and wrongly accused of petty theft at a ball. As Connie faces her unjust punishment, she is approached by a ghost offering a deal. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Announces Season 2

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime is officially getting a season 2 with studio Madhouse returning to animate the sequel. The announcement was made at the show’s anniversary event held on Saturday where the cast of the hero’s party and the new party were present. A teaser visual and trailer were also released.
The anime’s first season started in September 2023 and returned with its second cour in January 2024. The anime ended on March 22 with a “The Journy’’s End Continued””

Tsukasa Abe, the manga’s illustrator also made a commemorative visual for the season 2

Studio Madhouse (A Place Further Than The Universe) animated the first season with the direction of Keiichiro Saito (Bocchi the Rock!). The anime is based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. A prequel novel titled Shosetsu Soso no Frieren ~Zenso~ written by Mei Hachimoku will be released on April 17. The novel will feature 5 original stories, revolving around Frieren, Fern, Stark, Kanne, Lawine, and Aura. The manga’s 13th volume will be released at the same time as the prequel novel.

After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest TV Anime Announces July 2024 Premiere

The official website for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, the sequel to Hiro Mashima's Fairy Ta nil manga series illustrated by Atsuo Ueda, announced today that it is set to premiere in Japan in July 2024. The TV anime adaptation project was revealed back in September The anime's 30-second teaser trailer and five teaser visuals featuring its five main characters —Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, and Wendy Marvell — have also been revealed. And it was also confirmed the five characters' original voice cast members will all return.




Written and storyboarded by the original creator Hiro Mashima, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has been serialized as a sequel to Fairy Tail on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket manga app since July 2018 and its latest 17th tankobon volume is set to release in Japan on April 9. Kodansha USA releases the series in English. The publisher describes the series as such:

Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Erza, and the whole Fairy Tail Guild are back in action! And they’ve decided to tackle the “100 Years Quest”—a job no one’s dared take on since the founding of the guild more than a century ago. Funimation anime streaming shutting down

Funimation streaming service is shutting down on April 2nd, 2024 as part of the Crunchyroll merger. Funimation users are in an uproar over the fact that they will lose their entire digital library due to the merger. The merger comes after Sony Pictures acquired Crunchyroll through Funimation for a 1.2 Billion price tag. The merger was announced in December 2020. Crunchyroll Launches its Free 24-hour channel.

On October 11th Crunchyroll rolled out it's free ad-supported channel for anime fans! This channel can be found on the Roku Channel, LG Channel, Vizio freewatch+, and Amazon's Freevee. So get ready to watch some Anime!

The Crunchyroll Channel will feature a launch line-up of older anime shows dubbed in English. This includes Ranking of Kings, Horimiya, Code Geass to name a few!

First Promotional Video of "Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil!"

Well we can expect another great anime from Kadokawa.  They revealed on Monday the first promotional video on Monday for the television anime of Sawayoshi Azuma's The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil (Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru) manga. The video hints at a January 2024 release!

They have also revealed a new visual, and the show's opening and ending themes, The Opening will be from the group "Taiyo to Odore, Tsukiyo ni Utae"  song title is "Otowa" and the ending theme will be by Kaori Ishihara "Gift"

Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs.
