Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime is officially getting a season 2 with studio Madhouse returning to animate the sequel. The announcement was made at the show’s anniversary event held on Saturday where the cast of the hero’s party and the new party were present. A teaser visual and trailer were also released.

The anime’s first season started in September 2023 and returned with its second cour in January 2024. The anime ended on March 22 with a “The Journy’’s End Continued””

Studio Madhouse (A Place Further Than The Universe) animated the first season with the direction of Keiichiro Saito (Bocchi the Rock!). Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man) wrote the script, Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) composed the music, and Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) designed the characters. The cast from the season 1 includes:

The anime is based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. A prequel novel titled Shosetsu Soso no Frieren ~Zenso~ written by Mei Hachimoku will be released on April 17. The novel will feature 5 original stories, revolving around Frieren, Fern, Stark, Kanne, Lawine, and Aura. The manga’s 13th volume will be released at the same time as the prequel novel.

After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.
